Ça y est ! La deuxième cohorte d'élèves de Haut-Lac École Internationale Bilingue a terminé le Programme à Orientation Professionnelle du Baccalauréat International (IBPOP). Nous les avons rencontrés juste avant qu'ils ne partent en congé d'études pour découvrir leurs impressions sur ce programme orienté vers le monde professionnel.
Laquelle des formations à orientation professionnelle avez-vous choisie ? 
I chose sustainable hospitality with SUMAS. SUMAS is a university based in Gland and Milan, which basically talks about sustainability in general and sustainable business innovation. (Yonatan)
I chose the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) pathway. (Michelle)
J'ai fait le parcours SCAD, donc avec Savannah aux Etats-Unis pour le Design and le Dessin. (Rania)
Au début, j'avais choisi SCAD, mais cela n'a pas fonctionné pour moi, donc je suis passée à SUMAS, ce qui m'a énormément aidée. Le parcours SUMAS m'a également beaucoup soutenue, par exemple pour mon Projet Réflexif, donc je suis contente d'avoir fait ce choix. (Valentine)

Pourquoi avez-vous choisi le programme de l'IBPOP ?
I chose the IBCP programme because it's more of a practical programme than the IBDP, which is a bit more academic. I could therefore learn things in a more hands-on way. That’s the way I learn and the way that I am. I'm more of a physical person. I'm a hands-on learner, so I thought it would be a lot more beneficial for me. I also chose the IBCP for the different routes it gives me. It opens doors to different sectors. I was able to gain knowledge in different places, for example in sustainable hospitality, nature conservation, leadership styles, etc. (Yonatan)
I chose the IBCP programme because I had an idea of what I wanted to do in the future, or at least the path I wanted to go down. I knew the IBCP would let me focus on the things I'm more interested in so I wouldn’t have to use my time on subjects that wouldn’t benefit me in any way. (Michelle)
J'ai choisi l'IBPOP parce que c'est un programme beaucoup plus spécifique adapté à ceux qui ont déjà une idée claire de ce qu'ils veulent faire plus tard. Il offre un apprentissage hautement personnalisé qui nous prépare à être autonomes dans le futur. (Rania)
J'ai toujours su que je voulais faire quelque chose dans l'art. Je me suis donc dit que le parcours avec SCAD serait super intéressant. Je préfère aussi me concentrer sur les matières que j'aime vraiment, donc tout ce qui touche à l'art. Comme c'est ce que je veux faire plus tard, je me suis dit que j'aimerais vraiment renforcer cette compétence. (Valentine)
Qu'avez-vous aimer le plus de l'IBPOP ?
I like the freedom of it. It's a bit more open, you have different work to do, and I could choose exactly what I want to do. For example, I didn’t have to do any sciences, which I personally don't have any interest in, so it's a lot of time and energy saved to invest somewhere else in something I like more. I also liked the opportunities it brought me, as I was able to do many different things on the programme I chose. It definitely opened a lot of doors for me, and gave me references and connections. I liked the fact the IBCP was similar to the IB Diploma Programme. I still had similar experiences to the DP students, but I managed to focus on one thing. I think doing the career-related studies was a very big learning experience for me because I learned a lot about how university classes work and the level at which they teach at university. Ce que j'ai le plus aimé, c'est la manière dont les cours étaient organisés dans l'emploi du temps. Nous avions vraiment du temps pour notre apprentissage personnel. Par exemple, nous avions de nombreuses périodes consacrées à SCAD et les cours de PPS étaient particulièrement intéressants, car ils portaient sur des dilemmes éthiques et nous apprenions énormément. .Je dirais que ce que j'ai le plus apprécié, c'est le fait que cela nous enseigne énormément de choses. Nous devenons plus indépendants, le travail est souvent assez complexe, nécessitant beaucoup de recherches, et nous sommes souvent seuls dans ces projets. Je pense que ce sont toutes des compétences très importantes pour l'avenir. De plus, comme nous avons moins de matières à étudier, nous pouvons nous concentrer davantage sur ce que nous aimons vraiment, comme c'est le cas pour moi avec l'art. (Valentine)
Qu'est-ce l'IBPOP vous a apporté ?
The IBCP has helped me in many different sectors. For example, I chose something that I like, so the knowledge I've gained is something I will take ahead into the future and use. The connections I've gained during this time, the references which I have now and all the knowledge in general from the IBCP programme will be very helpful for me, and will definitely use it in the future. I think it made me develop and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I've grown a lot from doing the IBCP because I had to do a lot of things that I wasn’t used to. I had a lot more time to focus on certain subjects so I put a lot of energy into them, and I think that has prepared me to overcome a lot of challenges, at least in education. (Michelle)
Je trouve que ça m'a vraiment appris à être autonome, à être responsable de mon emploi du temps et mon temps de travail. (Rania)
Je soulignerais particulièrement le travail en autonomie, car nous sommes assez indépendants dans tous ces projets et recherches. Ensuite, je mentionnerais que SCAD m'a permis d'apprendre différentes techniques, telles que les techniques de dessin, tandis qu'avec SUMAS, j'ai acquis de nombreuses connaissances sur la gestion durable et perfectionné mes compétences en travail autonome. Qu'est-ce la prochaine étape pour vous ?
My next study or career move is to go and work in different sectors to see which I like the most. Then, when one spikes my interest, I will invest my time in that area, gain some liquidity in different ways and try to open a business in that specific sector to either solve a problem or do something today's society needs and succeed with it. I'm planning to study for a bachelors in graphic design at university for bachelor. (Michelle)
La prochaine chose que je vais faire c’est une prépa à Lausanne pour intégrer l’UNIL, plus spécifiquement en psychologie. (Rania)
En septembre, j'irai à Paris, dans une prépa d'art, pour un an, et ensuite, je verrai. (Valentine)
