Five secondary students at Haut-Lac International Bilingual School were very fortunate to attend the Villars Institute Symposium at the Villars Palace, in Switzerland. The event brings together global leaders, innovators and youth every year to explore urgent questions on climate action, sustainability and systems leadership.
Graduating from Haut-Lac International Bilingual School in 2023 marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my academic journey.
Today, I am studying Natural Sciences at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, with a focus on environmental sciences.

We caught up with them just before they headed off on study leave to find out their thoughts on this more industry-oriented IB programme.
School is a time of great exploration. Yet it can also be a time of great fear, or of self-consciousness.
Public speaking, answering questions in class and trusting one’s own voice are all hurdles many students learn to overcome during their school years. It’s not always an easy journey though.

2021 has seen a monumental end of year for climate change awareness, as world leaders awoke once more to the pressing climate matter at the COP26. Yet, even more important, was the light shone on both the many areas in which countries are falling down and how individuals and communities are getting together to do great things.

“Yea, normally, but the Haut-Lac gardens are different. If you can tear yourself away from its breathtaking views of Lake Geneva, you will find them to be an ecological learning haven.”
In the midst of this strange time warp we’re living in, you might not have realised that today is Earth Day. And not just any Earth Day - the 50th anniversary of this special day for environmental awareness. The people behind the movement want to make it known.
